Prerequisites
• A Zebra handheld scanner (e.g., Zebra TC21 / TC58e)
• A stable Wi-Fi connection
• Access to the OrderGrid app.
Setting up Zebra from a Factory Default Load
To prepare the Zebra device for use with OrderGrid, complete the standard Android setup process. This ensures the device is connected to Wi-Fi, signed in, and ready for barcode configuration.
If you are using a brand-new or factory-reset Zebra device, follow the steps below.
Initial Device Setup
On the Hello screen:
a. Tap Start.On the Wi-Fi setup screen:
a. Select your preferred network.
b. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
c. Tap Connect.
d. Tap Next.On the Copy apps & data screen:
a. Tap Don’t copy.
Google Account & Services
On the Google Sign-In screen:
a. Enter your Google email address.
b. Tap Next.
c. Enter your password.
d. Tap Next.On the Google Terms screen:
a. Tap I agree.On Google services: Backup your device:
a. Select your preferred backup setting.
b. Tap Accept.
Device Security & Optional Screens
On the Set a PIN screen:
a. Tap Set a PIN and confirm it, or
b. Tap Skip (based on your organization’s policy).On Pay with Google Pay:
a. Tap Skip.On Anything else?:
a. Tap No, thanks.
Setting Up OrderGrid Access
To ensure quick access to the OrderGrid platform, the OrderGrid web app must be added to the home screen. This will allow users to launch the application like a native mobile app.
In the browser, enter the OrderGrid app URL : wms.ordergrid.com.
Tap the three dots menu (top-right corner).
Select Add to Home Screen to create a shortcut for quick access.
Configuring Barcode Scanning Functions
Where to Configure These Settings?
Barcode scanning configurations must be set in the DataWedge app, which comes pre-installed on Zebra handheld devices. DataWedge allows for barcode input handling and integrates directly with applications.
All settings should be configured under Profile0 (default) to ensure consistent functionality across all applications.
Follow the steps on the DataWedge app.
Barcode Input Section
Open Configure Scanner Settings.
Tap Decoders.
Select Interleaved 2 of 5:
Check Enabled.
Check ☑️ Convert ITF-14 to EAN13.
Press the Back button (<).
Scroll down and select UPCE0:
Check Enabled.
Tap Preamble → Select Preamble Sys Char.
Press the Back button (<).
Check ☑️ Report Check Digit.
Press the Back button (<).
Scroll down and select UPCE1:
Check Enabled.
Tap Preamble → Select Preamble Sys Char.
Press the Back button (<).
Check ☑️ Report Check Digit.
Press the Back button (<) twice to exit and move to the next section on the configuration page.
Keystroke Output Section
Scroll down to the Keystroke Output section.
Tap Key Event Options.
Under Characters, check ☑️ Send Characters as Events.
Press the Back button (<).
Scroll down and tap Basic Data Formatting.
Tap Suffix to Data.
Click inside the text field and press Enter on the keyboard (without typing anything).
Tap OK.
Check ☑️ Send Data.
Testing the Configuration
Open the OrderGrid app via the shortcut.
Test the scanner’s functionality on the Scan Tags page.
Scan the tag barcode on the Zebra scanner and verify that you are navigated to the tag on the screen.
⚠️ Note:
If scanning does not work or if you have to manually click into an input field before scanning, you will need to reset the profile in the DataWedge app and reconfigure the device.
Reset the Profile in the DataWedge app:
Open the DataWedge app.
Tap the three vertical dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Select Settings.
ap Restore and confirm by tapping Yes.
Redo the çonfiguration.
Configuration Complete! 🎉
Your Zebra device is now ready to use with OrderGrid.
