What is an Order Picking for DTC?
Within a DTC(Direct-to-customer) warehouse, the OrderGrid app allows picking the orders the clients create. This is the third step in our warehouse management flow that follows, Unloading > Reciveing > Picking > Packing > Loading
To access the orders page, navigate to
☰ > Warehouse > Orders
Orders Overview
On the orders page, users can view a list of orders that need to be picked. The orders are displayed in the order they were created, enabling the warehouse to fulfill orders by prioritizing the older orders that need to be picked first over the new ones.
Additionally, the client company has the option to prioritize an order for picking ahead of older orders. In this case, the prioritized order will appear at the top of the list and be highlighted in yellow.
Types of order picking
On the orders page, you can prepare to pick orders in two ways:
Order pick (single or multiple orders)
Bulk Pick
Order pick (single or multiple orders)
This method of order picking allows users to pick single or multiple orders in a picking run. To start picking, click on Pick
on one or multiple orders from the list of orders.
Follow the steps to pick a single or multiple order order 🪜:
Click
Pick
on the order, a message will be displayed "Order added to pick listNext, click on the
Start Picking
on the bottom of the screen.
Next, you will be redirected to the pick screen. For any reason, if you move to another screen in the app, you can always navigate back to this screen by
☰ > Warehouse > Pick
.On the pick screen, assign a pick tag to the orders that you have selected for picking. On the order, click, and scan an empty pick tag on which the order will be picked. For each different order, you will need to scan a different tag.
Now, click
Start
on the screen, and you will see the first item to pick.Next, locate and scan the storage bin/tag shown on the screen. With your picking bins, go to the storage bin location displayed at the top of the screen within your warehouse. Scan the barcode and confirm the item's location. If correct, the screen will highlight the location in green.
Once the storage bin is validated, take the item out of the storage bin and scan the item barcode. If the item barcode is accurate, the screen will highlight the item in green. Now, pick the required quantity for the item, and add the quantity on the pick screen by tapping
+
button or inputting the quantity number for the selected UOM.
After adding the required quantity, put the items in the pick tag, and scan the pick tag barcode to complete putting the item in the pick bin. Upon scanning the correct pick tag, it will be highlighted green on the screen.
To complete picking the current item, click
Pick
on the screen, and you will be shown the next item on the pick screen to pick. To pick the next item, follow the same steps from steps 6 to 9.
Once all the items from the list are picked, you will see the order completion screen. On this screen, click
COMPLETE ALL
to finish picking up the orders.
Skip an Item
During the picking process, you can skip an item on the list by clicking SKIP PICK
on the Pick List screen. This will move the item to the end of the list to be picked.
Short an item
Also, if the item is not available in the location or is damaged, you can short an item.
To perform short pick, follow the steps:
On the pick list screen, scan the storage location to validate the item locations in the warehouse.
Next, click
SHORT PICK
. This step will require a manager's PIN.Once PIN is entered select the reason for this short pick: Damaged inventory or Not Available.
Click
Confirm
to complete shorting the item in the storage location you scanned.
⚠️ Note:
Performing a Short Pick for an item during the picking will deplete all the inventory of that item in that storage location.
Change Pick Location
While picking the order, the user can change the pick location of the item.
To change the pick location of the item, follow the steps below🪜:
On the pick list screen, tap on the displayed storage location.
A list of Pick Locations will be displayed. From that list, you can choose one of the available locations of the item.
Once a different location is selected, click
CONFIRM
to update the pick location.
